God is with Us
I used oil pastels, chalk pastel and watercolour paint on paper to create my artwork, “God Is with Us”.
I took my inspiration from the Gospel of Mathew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Emmanuel” which means, “God is with us.”
My artwork is of Mary holding her baby Jesus. Matthew’s scripture inspired me to think about the gift of a mother’s love. In my picture, the way Mary holds Jesus represents the love of all mothers for their children and the love of God for us.
I know my Mum held me in her arms like this when I was born and she had many hopes and dreams for me. Her guidance is still so important to me and her belief in me makes me feel loved and that my life is full of possibilities.
My Catholic faith is very important to me and I know that through my belief, “God is with us”.
