Innocence
Mary, as pure and white like the most delicate lily, is the symbol of humility and devotion. She proudly gave birth to the baby Jesus. Her veil is his protector, watching over the infant as he lay in the garden of innocence.
The Magi, journey in anticipation, arriving at the makeshift room where the baby peacefully rests. They stare with admiration at our salvation. Tired and weary from their travel they present the infant with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. So fitting for a King. The three gifts; Gold a symbol of kingship and value on earth, frankincense the scent of deity and holiness, and myrrh to signify his untimely death and mourning.
Jesus was born to die, [and] the lily signifies that his death has restored our innocence.
